MÉLANIE SCALA

Mélanie Scala began her musical journey as a singer-guitarist with Maharajah in spring 2003. After winning first place in a contest, a tour throughout Quebec and an album, the adventure ended in 2007.

After a brief musical pause, she began perfecting her piano playing and defining her musical tastes. In the summer of 2009, the desire to return to the stage took over and with the help of Simon Bédard (Mauvais Quart d'Heure, Maharajah), she embarked on the musical project Porcelaine.

In February 2010, with the support of Musicaction she recorded a five-song EP produced by Francis Collard. The first radio single "Mirage" rose to the top 4 in the radio correspondants and to the top 40 bds. The second single, "Fever", was also a success in commercial and non-commercial radio throughout Quebec. Several live performances followed, including one at FrancoFolies in Montreal.

In spring 2010, Mélanie's participation in the Festival Vue sur la Relève allowed the project Porcelain to enjoy a good visibility and to grace the stage with other emerging artists. In addition, in the summer of 2010 she was invited to participate in a ten-day writing workshop in Natashquan with Gilles Vigneault and seven other songwriters. The workshop cumulated in a group show with Mr. Vigneault.
